Prof Shakti Banerjee


Shakti Banerjee is a Professor and Head of Department of Immersive Media Design,
MIT Institute of Design, Pune. He has carved himself as a finest professional in the
field of visual effects, motion graphics, film, broadcasting, advertising, Interaction
design and print. With experience in multidisciplinary domains for past 25 years he
focuses and believes in cross media design interventions. Done Master in
Communication design from National Institute of Design (NID), over time; his
explorations have been acknowledged at various levels in India and abroad to fuel
more passion in him for more ventures in unknown territories. Worked in the industry
namely ‘The Times of India’ and ‘India Today’ magazine in Print media, worked vastly
in VFx and animation industry with Ramoji Filmcity, Hyderabad, ETV Network, UTV -
Mumbai, Zee TV Network, etc. Lead the Vfx team in numerous projects and that won
prestigious awards such as National award for best Special Effects.
Shakti is the former Senior Faculty in National Institute of Design, headed the Digital
Game Design Discipline, Masters Course in the Bangalore campus. Developed the
curriculum and implemented. Part of the International joint collaboration with Finnish
Educators from Finland on “Edutech – Future of Education” in 2017 arranged by
Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. Presently formulated and heading
Immersive Media Design - a unique trans-disciplinary master program that combines
emerging technologies and relevant disciplines of creative expressions and enabling
dialogues between natural environment and new digital frontiers.
